Leather upholstered sofas including sectionals are the most popular and needed items in a family or great room. With the advent of imports from China and Vietnam there is basically not a bottom to prices, especially when paired with an inferior product like bonded leather ( which is plastic over ground up leather). Look to a domestic brand for more options and better quality. Imports will have very limited color choices and usually stocked in one or two colors, as these items are pre-ordered and sitting in a warehouse. Look for USA Domestic brands (North Carolina) are made to order, (avoid Mississippi made brands as these are very low end and promotionally built). USA made higher end brands offer better choices with 100's of colors and many different types and feels. You can choose stitch detail, cushions, feet choice, wood finishes, nail trim or not, different sizes and lengths, even customize sofas to the inch. Best Quality Leather Sofas $1500-2500.
If your budget for a leather sofa is under $1500. Then you will be limited to something covered in leather/leather match or top grain with splits. In other words, the sofa will not be upholstered in 100% leather, and will have a vinyl or man made component on some of the non touch surface parts, which does not wear as well as the real leather. Other cases, would include Top grain leather with split grain in non touch areas. You can find an imported (China) sofa in this price category, but would be limited to one or two colors and lesser construction quality, framing,cushioning, and leather. At a budget of $2000 or so, you can step up and get something made in North America or a higher end import.

By stepping up to $2500 and more you can get many more options, Limited customization features, more leather colors, and choose from 100% leather instead of leather/match or other man made materials.

This will last as long as you would want with reasonable care. Heirloom quality. If in this price range look for made in USA, usually North Carolina factories.
